Yesterday was Data Privacy Day on the 28th of Jan is a annual day and its purpose for this day is spread awareness of privacy and best practice of protecting your data. This annual day has been around since 2007 spreading the awareness and being careful on what we do our daily lives online. I’m happy to celebrate a day like DPD. I think that everyone should know where their privacy is going online and have a right to know.
Three years ago I remember using facebook and different types of social back then, I remember that when going in the online world you think you’ll be safe and no one can’t really see what you doing, Here’s the reality that I didn’t know. Whenever you post anything on social media or at any website in general on the web its always recorded and one thing I didn’t know that how governments and corporations can see what we are doing most of the time and anything can be recorded. The United States and other first world countries with mechanisms and servers and collect data on theirs citizens information without their permission with the day we the world we are living today in a Big Brother State.
Three years ago I used Google as my main search engine for all my information and three years later my main search engine is Duckduckgo , cool little alternative search engine from Google. I use Google time and time again, but I most days when I’m doing a search I like to keep my searches privately away from big companies from Google but most of the information we look into Google isn’t really…”how should I say this”….private and most of the metadata is stored in servers were most of the information is kept for a long time or for eternally. With Duck duck go your privacy is never stored nor shared with 3rd party websites and which is great because I never want my information passing to places I don’t want them to see and happy I never use Google as my search engine again. Plus is duck duck go is open source and you write code and do different things to help the open source community on DDG.
Later through out the year I know that I’ll be writing more on privacy tools in my blog later on this year when I get around to get more time on it since I do like sharing my knowledge on software and what tools I use for privacy and what I do protect myself so you can protect yourself as well. I know privacy is the most important thing for everyone and as a individual to understand that must not be shared by everyone.
